The palace, which belonged to the noble Acquaviva family, was probably built in the 16th century with its dominant decorative apparatus of the portal surmounted by a unique balcony, commonly called Mignano.
The mignano is a typical architectural motif of Salento, with a great historical and environmental value. It represents the diaphragm between the internal space of the courtyard and the street, evidence of traditional ways of life and social behavior, such as the need for family privacy, discretion and an active participation to the street life from a higher point of view.
