The palace stands on the ruins of several buildings dating back to the 16th century. It is located in the ancient neighborhood San Paolo, the same neighbourhood that had hosted the Jewish community until 1942, the date of the expulsion of all Semites from the city.
The building was completely rebuilt in the neoclassical style by the Tafuri family in 1842. The atmosphere in the huge rooms of the palace is typical of the 19th century.
