Tafuri Palace belonged to the Tafuri, an ancient family whose earliest historical traces date back to the 14th century. In 1753 the palace was owned by Giovan Bernardino Tafuri, a prolific writer, historian and polygraph who founded the ‘Accademia degli Infimi Rinnovati’ in 1724.
The construction of the palace in the neighborhood Sant'Angelo dates back to the 17th century. The palace was largely modified over time, both after the damage caused by the violent earthquake of 1743 and by functional interventions.
The façade of the palace was completely rebuilt in 1841 in neoclassical style.
