The Church was built in 1607 by the Duke Bellisario II Acquaviva D’Aragona, on the place there was an ancient chapel dedicated to the Madonna of Constantinople, as an act of thanks for being saved from a lightning strike during a hunting trip. Then it was granted to the Order of Minims and dedicated to S. Francesco da Paola, a prodigious hermit. It is located just outside the historic centre.
The Church, a Latin-cross structure with a single nave, is raised above street level and accessed by a staircase. The adjacent convent is privately owned.
