The Church was rebuilt in 1758 to replace a pre-existing church built between the 16th and the 17th century.
Its style is similar to St. Matthew’s Church in Lecce, according to Borromini’s trends. On the façade, there is the inscription “De Domo David” in capital letters, that is the Confraternity’s motto. The internal structure shows an octagonal plan. The Church has three stone altars with large altarpieces on cavas depicting St. Joseph, St. Apollonio and St. Oronzo.
The main altar shows its wonderful low relief in Leccese lime stone representing the Flight into Egypt, whose sculptor is unknown. We recommend a visit in the evening.
